Portfolio of Works
In Bloom and Adrift
A season of bounty, a sense of irrelevancy. This body of work reflects on the paradox of midlife—a time of visible growth paired with an unsettling feeling of dislocation. Loosely informed by the rhythms of land and sea, these works move between fecundity and fragmentation, where beauty and strain coexist, and where what lies beneath the surface feels as vital as what is seen.
Backwards and in High Heels
"Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did, but she did it backwards and in high heels."
This multi-attributed quote encapsulates the challenges women face in modern society. From distorted beauty standards to lack of caregiving support, to the ridiculous notion of having it all...far too often females face expectations that that exceed possibility. This collection responds to the struggles of living as a woman in a patriarchal society, while simultaneously celebrating the inherent audacity and innate strength of the female persuasion.
Seen But Not Heard
What goes on beneath the serene surface we present to the world? Which struggles churn our insides? What longings stir our hearts? Juxtaposing soft hues with aggressive markings, bold brushstrokes with hidden messages, this collection explores emotional abstraction and gestural vocabulary from a woman's perspective.
Within and Without
The tumult of current events inevitably invades my studio practice. Amidst the cacophony, initially I find myself turning inward, seeking solace in my muse. As the ground beneath me stabilizes, I can better acknowledge the disruption of the world outside my picket fence. Only then, does my work summon the conviction I long to share. This collection addresses the demons we face “Within and Without,” challenging us to impact change on both fronts.
Spectrum of Sensations
So often our focus on to-dos prevents us from appreciating right-nows. Created with acrylic, coffee, crayon, graphite, charcoal and ink, each painting in this series represents both a feeling and a color. The collective works in “Spectrum of Sensations” inspire pause and grounding in the vibrancy of the present.
